The Right to Self Defense

I am sickened by Israel's repeated claims of self-defense to justify its atrocities. Israel does not have the right to self-defense—not in this context—because it is an occupying military force maintaining a brutal siege over an entire civilian population. This is not “complex,” despite what propaganda has tried to claim for over seventy-five years. But in case you're still struggling to understand, let me explain in simple terms:

First, let’s remember: Gaza and the West Bank belong to the Palestinian people, as established by international mandate since 1967.

Now let’s strip this propaganda down to its core logic.

Imagine your neighborhood—your home. It's 19:48 when a group of armed men burst through your door and force you and your neighbors out at gunpoint. You and your family are now their hostages.

If someone invades your home, kills your family, threatens you, and takes over everything you own, you have the legal and moral right—anywhere in the world—to fight back. In fact, you even have the right to kill in self-defense under such conditions. Just stop and look around the space you’re in right now. Visualize that happening to you.

Now ask yourself: Can those invaders claim self-defense? Can a thief break into your house in the middle of the night, kill your loved ones, and then claim he is the victim when you resist? Of course not. Anywhere else in the world, the police would arrest him and the courts would prosecute him.

Except in Palestine.

In Palestine, it is the invaders who kill, destroy, and dispossess—then call their victims “terrorists” and “anti-Semites.” For 75 years, Israel has been doing exactly this: attacking, occupying, bombing, stealing land and homes—not only in Palestine but across neighboring regions—then silencing resistance by branding it hatred of Jews.

Because apparently, if someone opposes Israeli aggression, the only possible explanation must be antisemitism.
