Please tell God to bless the Palestinians in West Bank, Gaza, Haifa,Jerusalem. The Lebanese. The Yemenis. The Syrians. The Iranians. They are mourning the dead.
Thank you for choosing the right people to unite all of us against murder, violence, genocide. They have been doing a tremendous job: 17,000 terrorist attacks in the last 600 days alone. Thousands of dead people, and millions being starved to death.
On May 5th, 2025, I submitted Form I-407 to the U.S. government, formally and irrevocably abandoning my lawful permanent resident status. I asked for confirmation that my ties to the United States, both legal and financial, had been severed.
This was not an administrative decision. It was an ethical one. I left the United States on February 22nd, 2025, not for personal convenience, but in direct protest of the government’s active role in the killing of Palestinians and its continued interference in the Middle East.
The United States provides weapons, diplomatic cover, and unwavering support to the Israeli government as it carries out atrocities against the Palestinian people. Every missile funded, every veto cast, every silence maintained in the face of horror implicates not just those in power, but all those who remain silent under the illusion of neutrality. I refuse to be one of them.
For years, I tried to hold these contradictions in tension. I had once cherished my life in the United States. I spent my formative years in New York City. I met people I loved. I built a life. But over time, it became clear that no dream, however personal, can justify complicity with a nation that has chosen empire over empathy, arms over accountability, and silence over humanity.
I could not watch what is unfolding in Gaza and continue to live in a country that funds it. I could not remain in the United States knowing what it represents in the lives of millions who suffer under its foreign policy. There is no moral ambiguity left. The line has been drawn in blood; in the body parts of the children it has maimed with its 2,000-pound bombs.
2023 is the year I finally sat my soul down for a real conversation. I see clearly now. All of it. No illusions left to protect you. God and democracy are the fictitious sides of the same coin—used to justify domination, sanctify violence, and silence dissent. I reject both.
So I made my choice. I will not participate, I will not benefit, and I will not be silent.
Some will call this symbolic. Let them. Let them walk away from all they built in forty years in the name of something bigger.. They are lines drawn in the sand. They are declarations of conscience. In a time of moral collapse, clarity is resistance. I left in respect for the innocent Jews who died in the Holocaust.
I write this not for sympathy, but for accountability—to myself, to my beliefs, to the memory of those who have been erased, and to the living who still suffer. This severance is part of a deeper vow: that my writing, life, and work will serve those who are crushed by the boots of empire, not those who wear them.
This is not exile. I will never return to the U.S. I will return to integrity, to the core of who I am, to the reasons I began writing in the first place. To honour the tears of a 9-year-old boy seeing the pictures of the Holocaust for the very first time.
This severance is part of a deeper vow: that my writing, life, and work will serve those who are crushed by the boots of empire, not those who wear them.
